About The Songs

CHRISTMAS VACATION
When my kids were young and we lived in Nashville, we’d pack up and go on vacation every year on December 26. Of course, we’d usually go to Gulf Shores so I could work and pay for the trip. This kind of relives those days for me.

I GOT DRUNK AT THE OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY
There’s always one guy at every office Christmas party who really screws up. Gets too drunk and usually shows his ass. I promise I’ve never been that guy! By the way, almost every gig I play, there’s that drunk guy. Some night he may be old or young or tall or short or man or woman, but he’s always there drunk and desperate for attention. Please ignore him and listen to me!

ANOTHER WHITE CHRISTMAS
Don’t you feel sorry for those people who live where it’s so cold? They tell you how beautiful the snow is. YEAH, RIGHT! Well, let me say this about snow. It’s pretty, but a little goes a long way.

12 DAYS OF SNOWBIRD CHRISTMAS
My buddy and Realtor extraordinaire, Malcolm Bond, gave this idea to me. Pickin’ on the birds again! You know for the most part, they’re great folks. Do not tell them I said that! Malcolm and I worked together as a duo for a couple of years way back. We were called Burns and Bond.

ALL WRAPPED UP IN CHRISTMAS
I believe this is one of my best songs ever. If the right artist ever records it, it’ll be a hit.

SANTA’S GONE NASCAR
Bill Whyte brought this idea to the table. Too bad NASCAR doesn’t run in December! We get quite a bit of airplay each year from this one.

CHRISTMAS IN MEXICO
This was a Jim Allison idea. A little story about a divorced guy in search of love. Jim and I are both single, but not looking hard. Although, if she’s real cute, send me a current picture!

CASHIN’ IN ON CHRISTMAS
Jim Allison and I again. We actually wrote this one awhile back. I guess it’s a funny and cynical look at the holidays.

SANTA’S COME A LONG, LONG WAY
Jim and I again trying to paint a picture of a modern day St. Nick.

(IT’S GONNA BE) A MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS
Okay. I admit that I am sarcastic and cynical at times, but people get so rushed and pushed at Christmas. They forget to stop and breathe and enjoy! I do enjoy watching others go crazy!

THE SANTA BOAT
This one’s Bill Whyte’s idea all the way. Kind of a cartoon in a song.

BUILD THEM A HOUSE (A Tribute to "Habitat for Humanity")
Habitat for Humanity is such a great organization. They have built thousands of homes around the world for people who would have never owned the roof under which they live and sleep. Thousands! The owners of these homes have to give sweat equity for other projects. They have a mentor or sponsor to help them learn to manage their lives and money. They also have a mortgage to pay. It’s not totally free! The people inside Habitat are special too. They work so hard, most are volunteers, every day to help others. What great examples they are!
